However, this versatile pepper is not only used for Mexican dishes, but it can also be used in rubs and marinades. It also works well in chocolate or chocolate desserts where the smokiness of the pepper complements the sweetness of the chocolate.
Our Steam Treated Chipotle Pepper has a Scoville rating of 18,000 - 24,000 HPLC units. The word chipotle stems from the Nahuatl word chilpoctli, which means “smoked chile”.
