Bulk Dried Basil
Did you know?
The main species of basil (Ocimum basilicum) is used in everyday life in cooking and baking recipes as well as for medicinal purposes. Although sweet basil is the main basil variety, there are many other basil varieties and species like cinnamon basil, holy basil, lemon basil, lime basil, purple basil and Thai basil.
Origin
Originating from Asia, most likely India, east Africa, or China, sweet basil — often known as Genovese basil — is an annual herb plant from the mint family and is grown worldwide in warm climates.
Application
Basil leaves are used fresh or dried, whole or chopped to flavor salads, meats, fish, and to make or garnish sauces. Whether buying bulk basil leaves for use in restaurants or for acquiring dried basil in jars for use at home, basil is popular in a range of dishes from Asian-inspired stir fry recipes to Mediterranean-focused plates.
