Onion Powder Premium
The onion, or bulb onion, is of the genus Allium. It is closely related to garlic, shallots and chives. Similar to garlic, it is one of the longest cultivated crops throughout history. The origins of the vegetable and spice can be traced back to either Central Asia or Pakistan.
Of the many onion varieties: white, yellow, red or sweet, in the United States, ofi Spices’ grows and processes white onions. The onions are grown from proprietary seeds that are developed by our research and development experts using our seed breeding program. The seeds are planted in three regions in the western United States by our ag ops team, who also harvest the onions once they are fully developed.
Post-harvest, our onions are transported to our state-of-the-art processing facilities where they are washed, sliced, dried and transformed into a powder. Our premium onion powder is now available through AtSource, ofi's sustainable sourcing platform.
